Massive Job Vacancies at Rural Electrification & Renewable Energy Corporation

The Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation, (formerly, the Rural Electrification Corporation) a state corporation established under the Energy Act, 2019, is mandated to enhance provision of electricity in the rural areas of the country as well as develop, manage and promote the use of renewable energy in Kenya. Through its mandate, the Corporation seeks to improve the socio-economic well-being of Kenyans living in rural areas as well as develop cheap alternatives to sources of energy through the promotion of renewable energy. Since commencing operations in the 2008/09 financial year, the Corporation has endeavoured to realize this objective and through its efforts, 70% of all the public facilities have been electrified. Moving forward, the Corporation will put more focus on renewable energy to provide electricity to areas far away from the national grid network. The Corporation is looking for highly experienced, motivated and results-oriented individuals to fill vacancies in the organization. The applicants must be self-driven individuals who are focused and committed to driving the Corporation towards achieving its mandate. They will work with their departmental teams in spearheading/embracing innovations, work ethics and must possess a high level of integrity.

A. CORPORATION SECRETARY AND MANAGER, LEGAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT

  1. LEGAL COUNSEL, GRADE REREC 6 (1 POST)

a) Job Specification

  • Rendering professional legal advice to the management for any legal action to be initiated and/or defending the interests of the Corporation
  • Preparing legal briefs for the initiation of legal action
  • Preparing and interpreting legal opinions and offering guidance on legal requirements;
  • Supervising training of Legal Assistants, interns and other staff when necessary;
  • Maintaining and ensuring proper management of the records of the legal department are up to date and produce quarterly reports on the same;

  1. LAND AND PROPERTY OFFICER GRADE REREC 6 (1 POST)

a) Job Specification

  • Ensuring that sound land management policies, Systems, regulations, procedures, strategies and programmes are properly documented and implemented
  • Developing and implementing prudent land management practices in the Corporation;
  • Ensuring that all lands interests within the areas of project implementation by the Corporation are registered within the applicable law
  • Undertaking the assessment of property market values and market rental rates in liaison with the Ministry of Lands and other state agencies;

B) POWER DISTRIBUTION & REGIONAL COORDINATION DIRECTORATE CONSTRUCTION DEPARTMENT (HEAD OFFICE)

  • Participating in the preparation of annual Departmental Performance Contracts;

  • Bachelors degree in Secretarial Studies, Business Management/Administration or any other equivalent from a recognized institution;
  • Typewriting III (Minimum 50 w.p.m.)/Computerized document processing III;
  • Shorthand III (120 w.p.m.);
  • Business English III/Communications I;
  • Office Management III/Office Administration and Management III;
  • Secretarial Duties II; and Commerce II.
  • Proficiency in computer applications; and
  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of Constitution.

  • Candidates must submit Tax Compliance certificate from Kenya Revenue Corporation, Clearance Certificates from Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission and Higher Education Loans Board; and a VALID Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
