Jubilee Party candidate for the Kibra by-election McDonald Mariga has been disqualified from the race after his name was found missing from the voter register.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) said Tuesday evening that they cannot accept McDonald Marigaโs candidature because his details are missing in the votersโ register of 2017.

Mariga was earlier in the day issued with a Jubilee Nomination Certificate before proceeding to the IEBC for clearance. He even kickstarted his campaigns in Kibra.
Efforts by former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale and MP Nixon Korir to find a way forward with IEBC on the matter did not bear any fruits as IEBC returning officer Jane Muli said she could not arbitrate on the matter.
Following the announcement, Langโata MP Nickson Korir said they are going to appeal the decision at the partyโs tribunal.
Mariga was handed nomination certificate today by the party to battle it out against ODM candidate Ben Okoth.
The latest development will come as a huge blow for Jubilee who were banking on the former Football Star.
The disqualification comes as a blow for the ruling party, but as a relief for ODM which has been the dominant party in Kibra.

Other candidates in the race to succeed late MP Ken Okoth, who succumbed to cancer on July 26, are Amani National Congressโ Eliud Owalo, Ford Kenya’s Khamisi Butichi, Malaseh Hamida of the United Green Movement, Editar Ochieng of Ukweli Party (associated with activist Boniface Mwangi), Fridah Kerubo Kingara an independent candidate and the controversial Kenyan rapper Jackson Makini alias CMB Prezzo on Wiper Party.
