Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula on Sunday dismissed his removal as Ford Kenyaโs party leader as an illegality meted out by a cabal of impostors.
During a press conference, Wetangula accused the partyโs NEC of airlifting impostors to bundle him out of the party leadership.
โThey were airlifting impostors yesterday from Kisumu and Mombasa, those people are not even members of Ford Kenyaโs NEC,โ he said.
The embattled senator alleges that several people were booked at the high-end Radisson Blu hotel before meeting to vote on his ouster.
Further, he claims that those who voted in favour of his ouster were coerced into making the unlawful changes.
โA grouping calling themselves NEC members of this party airlifted people who are not officials of this party; booked and detained them forcefully overnight and made decisions affecting this party. We shall discipline these truant & errant members,โ he said.
In a retaliatory move, Wetangula suspended the partyโs Secretary General David Simiyu and replaced him with Chris Wamalwa.
At the same time, he rubbished the changes by the partyโs NEC and asked anyone interested in being a party leader to file their papers and wait for the yet-to-be-announced party elections at the Bomas of Kenya.
โCoups are archaic to good order and activities of cowards. Anybody who wants to run for a seat in Ford Kenya file your papers and letโs meet at Bomas. I have no doubt delegates will still give me a chance to run this party,โ he added.
Earlier on Sunday, the Ford Kenya NEC had announced that Wetangula had been kicked out as the party leader on accusations of moral impropriety and gross misconduct.
The partyโs NEC moved to have him replaced by Kanduyi member of parliament Wafula Wamuninyi on an interim basis.
