DCI sleuths confiscate 466kgs of bhang in Isiolo, one arrested

DCI detectives arrested one man transporting 56 bales of Cannabis Sativa.

The bhang, which was packed like mitumba bales weighed 466 kilograms.

The police were acting on information that the drugs were to be transported to an unknown destination via Merti subcountry, Isiolo.

The officers were attacked by armed gang upon reaching Lakole area, injuring one police officer.

The police managed to overpower the gang after reinforcement and arrested Haron Mwenda Gitobu.

The bales of the drugs were packed in a vehicle with registration number KBB 333W.

The suspect is in police custody as investigations continue.

The injured police officer is in stable condition after treatment.

Early this month, police detained a lorry and probox with 131 bales of bhang following a raid at a Moyale forest.

The police said in a statement that two vehicles were hidden at the Antuta Dryland forest in Moyale.

However, they were seized and towed to Moyale police station following a joint operation by security agencies.
