WE, the Professionals from the Northern Kenya, would like to express our profound gratitude to the President of the Republic of Kenya, His Excellency Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, for the appointment of Ms. Mumina Bonaya as Chief Administrative Secretary for Education, during the recent reorganisation of his Cabinet.

Mumina, who hails from Isiolo County, is an accomplished Professional in Education and Development fields and has vast experience and good understanding of development and service delivery in the context of Arid and Semi-Arid Land. She is a higher achiever who was recognized as Top40Under40 Woman in 2016, owing to her Transformational Leadership as the National Chair of the Women Enterprise Fund, where she served for a period of 3 years.


We believe that she is equal to the responsibility bestowed upon her by H.E the President because her expertise will greatly add value to the Education sector in our Country.

1. The appointment of Mumina, alongside 6 other young Kenyans is a clear indication of the President’s faith in young people of this nation and a commitment to have every group of our society on board when it comes to management of public affairs.

2. As the first pastoralist woman from the larger Northern Kenya to be appointed to the Cabinet, she will serve as an inspiration and a role model to women and young girls our region whose dream to excel against discriminative cultural norms and beliefs is often challenged.


3. By appointing Mumina to CAS Education, reassigning the Hon. Abdul Bahari from CAS Labour to Devolution and ASAL, a Ministry which is more critical to the Development of our region and confirmation of Amb. Ukur Yattani to a higher docket of National Treasury and Planning, the president has confirmed his commitment to regional balancing and inclusivity in his Government.

4. We would like to commend the President for his directive and subsequent swift action by Government Authorities in controlling the Locust invasion in the Country. We also welcome various policy interventions made by the President aimed at improving different sectors of our economy.
