After 2019 Census provisional results there are indications from Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission that the there are counties that will be greatly affected.
While number of Constituencies will remain at 290 as stipulated in the Constitution as the figures released will result in the alteration of some boundaries, with some counties gettig more while some will be scrapped.

Due to an increase in population, counties that will get extra constituencies are;
1. Mombasa
2. Kwale
3. Kilifi
4. Meru
5. Machakos
6. Kiambu
7. Trans Nzoia
Counties that will have some of their constituencies scrapped are;
1. Tana River
2. Lamu
3. Taita Taveta
4. Garissa
5. Wajir
6. Mandera
7. Marsabit
8. Tharaka Nithi
9. Kitui
10. Nyandarua
11. Nyeri
12. Murang’a
13. Samburu

But political pundits have stated that, no current sitting Member of Parliament will allow to lose their constituency unless it happens through popular vote or referendum.
Basically it is only boundaries which can be alerted, expanded or contracted , even this population qouta thing should be devolved to county population qouta.

Constitutionally, any Member of August house can move a motion to amend IEBC Act 2011/12 and move to operationalise Article 100 of the Constitution 2010.
