FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 25/08/2019

CONDEMNATION OF ETHNIC CONFLICTS AND KILLINGS IN MARSABIT.

This morning again, we woke to another devastating news of ethnic conflicts in Marsabit and loss of more than 5 lives around Forolle area.

Firstly, I want to send my sincere condolences to the families and friends of those whose lives have been cut short.

I want to give my assurance that the Marsabit County Government will stand with the bereaved families as well as those of the injured.

I have given instructions to the relevant departments and officers on the ground to ensure that all injured are quickly rushed to the health facilities and attended to without further delay.

It is becoming a matter of great concern that the state of insecurity in Marsabit County is not getting any better. It is also unimaginable that we can just lose innocent lives every single day, livestock are stolen and yet no one is being held responsible and no livestock are recovered.

I want to urge the security personnel to take their rightful place in the maintenance of law and order and protect the lives of our people with the fullness they deserve.

It is imperative and urgent that the security machineries in Marsabit act with speed to arrest the insecurity situation and bring to end all these madness.
